Supreme Court Redux

OK, remember my posting about the supreme court issue is just a scare tactic, and me saying Rehnquist and Stevens are the most likely to go but their health is good? Well so much for that.

The Washington Post today informed us that "Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist is being treated for thyroid cancer at the Bethesda Naval Hospital, the Supreme Court said today."

Oh no. I hope he doesn't get sick, really I do. I don't like his opinions that much, but I don't mind him nearly as much as Scalia or Thomas (the absolute worst).

If, God forbid, he died during a Kerry presidency, who would Kerry nominate and eventually appoint? Gore would have appointed Harvard Constitutional Law Professor Laurence Tribe, Kerry is looking at D.C. Circuit Judge David Tatel, former Solicitor General Drew Days, Second Circuit Judge Sonia Sotomayor, California Chief Justice Ronald George and former Stanford Law School Dean Kathleen Sullivan.

What about Bush? Bush's list includes 4th Circuit Judges Judges J. Harvie Wilkinson III, and J. Michael Luttig; Former Deputy Attorney General Larry Thompson; former Solicitor General Theodore Olson; White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales. Remember Alberto? He is the author of the torture memo.

That should make people go out and vote, because we don't want people like that appointed for life.
